PLAYSTATION 3 THE NEXT GENERATION

The PS3 is a high powered technology on the market these days and even know to be even more powerful than most computers. The original Sony Playstation had been in since 1994 and is now even more famous than ever.

There are 13,000 video game titles available worldwide for PlayStation products, and more are released monthly. Sony plans to continue its market dominance with the latest version of its successful console, the PlayStation 3.

Sony designed the PlayStation 3 to be more than just a video game console. It supports all kinds of digital entertainment such as DVD, Blue-ray, Music, videos, online features, internet access etc. It is basically a home-entertainment computer. This computer is made with a specially designed CPU called the Cell processor. Sony, Toshiba and IBM worked together to develop the Cell processor. It's their answer to the growing trend toward multi-core processing, in which manufacturers place as many processors as possible onto one chip.
In comparison to the most powerful PC’s CPU available in from 2005 the $1,000, dual-core Pentium Processor Extreme Edition, just barely breaks the 200-million-transistor mark.

How it affects our minds?

In this new generation a computer like that would attract the interest of millions and would be great on the market but how does a machine affect the way we should think about our needs or wants? Companies keep advancing their products and use the media to manipulate our thinking process and therefore we end up with the urge or temptation to purchase a product. A machine like the PS3 has changed the lifestyle of millions of customers as many would spend over 50 hours a week just playing games on the console.
